Professor Yong Tan Paid a Visit to DSEM and Gave an Academic Report

In the afternoon of June 7th, Yong Tan, the Professor of University of Washington, Department of Information Systems and Operations Management, a well-known scholar in the field of management information systems was invited by Donlinks School Economics and Management to give an academic report.
The report was hosted by Dean Xiangbin Yan, Professor Tan shared his latest academic results on Optimizing Two-sided Promotion for Transportation Network Companies: A Structural Model with Conditional Bayesian Learning. After the report, Professor Tan discuss about his academic research experience with School’s faculty and students.

Professor Yong Tan is the Neal and Jan Dempsey Professor of Information Systems at the Michael G. Foster School of Business, University of Washington; ‘Cheung Kong Scholar’ Chair Professor of Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management; Distinguished Fellow of INFORMS in field of information systems; Vice Director of USTC-UW Institute for Global Business and Finance Innovation. He received his Ph.D. in Physics and Ph.D. in Business Administration, both from the University of Washington.
Professor Tan’s research interests including E-Commerce, Mobile Commerce, Social Commerce, Big Data, Information Systems Economics, Social and Economic Networks and Medical Information Technology. He has published papers on Management Science, Information Systems Research, Operations Research, Management Information Systems Quarterly, Journal of Management Information Systems, INFORMS Journal on Computing, IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, IIE Transactions, European Journal on Operations Research and Decision Support System etc.
Yong Tan has served as Deputy Editor of Information Systems Research and Management Science, currently serves as Senior Editor of Information Systems Research and Journal of Electronic Commerce Research, he also is an editorial member Journal of Management Information Systems. He has served as Co-Chair of the 2012 Conference on Information Systems and Technology (CIST 2010), Branch Chairman of the INFORMS Information Systems Annual Conference, Chairman of the 2013 International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS 2013), Co-Chair of 2014 Workshop on Information Technologies and Systems (WITS 2014). Professor Tan has received the Best Paper Award for the 2009 Information Systems Association (AIS), the second place of Best Paper Award for 2012 Information Systems Research, Andrew V. Smith Outstanding Research Award, Dean Outstanding Research Award, Dean Outstanding Young Teacher Research Award, Lex N. Gamble Family Outstanding Achievement Award in the field of E-Commerce, Information Systems Engineering Graduate Guidance Award, Undergraduate Professors of the year, Management Science Most Valuable Service Award. His doctoral students teach at many top universities in the field of Information Systems including Carnegie Mellon University, Purdue University, Indiana University, Georgia State University etc.
