Ethical Behaviour
The mission of the DSEM rests on the premise of ethical behaviors by students, faculty and the administrative staffs. The DSEM believes that knowledge is impaired without a prevailing ethic of honor and integrity in all scholarly and professional activities. The principle of integrity makes it possible for the public to place trust in the degrees we offer and the research we conduct. We strive to foster these values in all our operations and will employ all possible means to discourage unethical behavior.

The DSEM integrates honesty and fairness into its teaching, research and business practices. One of the school’s core values is integrity. As members of the DSEM community, all faculty, staffs and students are responsible for sustaining the highest ethical standards of the school and of the broader community in which we serve. The DSEM does not tolerate dishonesty by anyone in any form including fraud, theft, cheating, plagiarism, lying, deliberate misrepresentation, invidious discrimination or the misuse of the university property.

The DSEM holds the faculty and students’ accountability by issuing and enforcing the Code of Faculty/Staff Conduct and the Code of Student Conduct. The Code of Conducts for faculty, students and staffs serve as official published policies to support legal and ethical behaviors within the school and the university.

In addition to the Faculty and Student Handbooks, the university and the school use various programs to educate the faculty and students for ethical behaviors. The DSEM has a clear goal of educating students not only on academic achievements, but also on shaping the student’s positive lifestyle and attitude towards the society. Class attendance is required strictly and is recorded in every class each day. Absence must be approved in advance or in a written notice explaining the reasons afterward.

The DSEM takes it seriously to detect and address breaches of ethical behaviors. The policies to manage the faculty and students’ inappropriate behaviors are clearly addressed in the Faculty and Student Code of Conduct. For example in part three of the “Faculty Code of Conduct”, it is clearly classified the level of the misconducts and the treatments of unethical behaviors based on the nature of the breaches. The misconducts are classified into four categories which are extreme serious, serious, medium and minor. The faculty’s performance salary will be deducted accordingly depending on the level of the seriousness.
