A Shift in Focus: From Technology to Technology-enabled Business Models
Dr. Stephen Haag, the professor of Daniels College of Business, University of Denver provided an academic lecture on the Trend and Challenge of Information System Management in room 312 of SEM of USTB on 23rd Oct 2009, as invited jointly by SEM of USTB and Shenlu Culture.
The subject of his lecture is about A SHIEF IN FOCUS: FROM TECHNOLOGY TO TECHNOLOGY – ENABLED BUSINESS MODELS. Based on practical aspect, he expressed the three important priciples in running business: 1. Convert fixed costs to variable or incremental costs, only incur costs when you seee a unit; 2. Eliminate veriable or incremental costs; 3. Generate more revenue; explained what Cloud Computing it was.
Prof. Haag warmly answered many questions that teachers and students met in daily work and study who attended the lecture on that day.
After the lecture, Prof. Haag was invited to have a short meeting with Prof. Xuedong Gao of SEM intruducing information system management educational situation outside China. Prof. Gao expressed the expect of intruducing foreign advaned teaching experiences and theoretical, practical knowledge into China, combined with actual education sitation of USTB, in order to improving teaching level of information system management in China.
All the teachers and students expressed great interests in Prof. Haag’ lecture, they hoped there would be more opportunities that could meet internationally academic masters face to face.
