Recently, Information Management and Information System of Donglinks School of Economics and Management, USTB was chosen to be part of a national first-class undergraduate discipline development programmes, marking a milestone of the first-class undergraduate discipline development of SEM.
Recently, the Ministry of Education (MOE) issued the Notice of the General Office of the MOE on Releasing the List of National and Provincial First-class Professional Construction Sites in 2019 (MOE [2019] No.46), officially unveiling the list of first-class undergraduate disciplines to take part in the “Double Ten Thousand Plan” (the Plan) in 2019. Thirteen majors of USTB, including Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Materials Physics, Metallurgical Engineering, Energy and Power Engineering, Communications Engineering, Automation, Computer Science and Technology, Mining Engineering, Mineral Processing Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, and Information Management and Information Systems, were approved as the first batch of disciplines to take part in the Plan, marking a milestone of the first-class undergraduate discipline development of USTB.
Since April 2019, the Ministry of Education has carried out the Plan in order to develop world-class undergraduate disciplines, with the goal of developing around 10,000 national first-class undergraduate disciplines and 10,000 provincial first-class undergraduate disciplines from 2019 to 2021. In 2019, the Ministry of Education identified the first batch of 4,054 national disciplines (including 1,691 national ones and 2,363 local ones) and 6,210 provincial disciplines to be targeted by the Plan.
In recent years, with the principle of “cultivating students’ moral virtues and serving the growth of students”, USTB has promoted “the return to common sense, return to duty, return to heart, return to dream” and improved the ability of personnel training in all respects. It has formulated and implemented the First-class Undergraduate Education Action Plan of University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB), and strengthened professional construction through optimizing education structure, pushing forward professional connotation development and promoting the first-class discipline development.
The approval of thirteen national first-class undergraduate disciplines demonstrates the Ministry of Education’s recognition of USTB’s efforts in discipline development. Taking this opportunity, in order to fulfill our mission as part of the “Double First Class Plan”, USTB will continue to work towards adhering to professional norms, pursuing educational reforms, and improving teacher and personnel training methods.
