In order to improve the organization and service for applying national science fund and improve the quality of the proposal for National Social Science Fund of China (NSSFC) for our teachers, SEM held an online proposal review meeting for the 2021 NSSFC on the afternoon of February 24, 2021. Three NSSFC reviewing experts with rich experience were invited to review and instruct the seven proposals for this year’s NSSFC application. They are Professor Lai Desheng, Vice Director of the Department of Social and Ecological Civilization Teaching and Research of the Party School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (National School of Administration), Professor Zheng Chaoyu from the School of Economics of Renmin University of China and Professor Fan Bo, Vice Dean of the School of International and Public Affairs of Shanghai Jiaotong University.
The review meeting was presided by Professor Gu Wei, Vice Dean of SEM. Professor Yan Xiangbin, Dean of SEM, made a welcome speech. Yan expressed welcome and thanks to the experts for their guidance, and pointed out that with the encouragement and guidance for relevant policies and measures, the number and scale of national fund projects in SEM have grown significantly in recent years. However, there is still much potential for improvement in applying for national level funds. He hoped teachers can take this opportunity to learn from the valuable experiences and opinions of experts and strive for satisfactory achievements in this year’s application. Later on, seven teachers who applied for the fund this year reported on the background, objectives, content and innovation of their project. After hearing their presentation and reviewing their proposals in detail, the experts gave targeted guidance for each proposal and provided detailed suggestions for revision and improvement.
The Office of Scientific Research and Discipline Construction of the school will further improve the organization and service work, provide all-round services and support for the application and strive to achieve a new breakthrough in the number of national fund projects in our school this year.
