On May 22, the donation ceremony for the Zhang Qun Education Fund, proposed and jointly funded by alumni of the School of Economics and Management, was held in Conference Room 306 of the University Administration Building. Prior to the ceremony, University President Yang Renshu met with Professor Zhang Qun, the attending guests, and alumni representatives.

Those attending the ceremony included Peng Qinghong, Vice President of the University; Zhang Qun, former Dean of the School of Economics and Management; Yan Xiangbin, Professor at the University and President of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies; Quan Liangzhu, Vice Chair of the University Affairs Committee, Vice President of the Alumni Association, Council Member of the Education Development Foundation, and former Deputy Party Secretary of the University; Wang Weicai and He Minqing, Vice Chairs of the University Affairs Committee, Vice Presidents of the Alumni Association, Council Members of the Education Development Foundation, and former Vice Presidents of the University; Yan Kuiming, Director of the Alumni Affairs Office and the Foundation Office; Gu Wei, Dean of the School of Economics and Management; as well as representatives from relevant university departments, faculty members, and students of the School. The ceremony was presided over by Wu Sen, Party Secretary of the School of Economics and Management.

Peng Qinghong pointed out that Professor Zhang Qun had personally witnessed and actively promoted the rapid development of the School of Economics and Management, and had influenced generation after generation of students. He noted that the establishment of the Zhang Qun Education Fund not only reflects the alumni’s deep affection for their alma mater and their earnest hopes for the growth and success of younger students, but also injects new vitality into the University’s discipline development, talent cultivation, and scientific research. He stated that the University would live up to this trust, fully leverage the role of the Fund, and make new contributions to building a first-class school of economics and management with distinctive industry characteristics and to cultivating more outstanding talents in the field.

Gu Wei introduced the background of the Zhang Qun Education Fund donation, explaining that the fund was proposed and established through joint contributions from some alumni of the School of Economics and Management in recognition of Professor Zhang Qun’s outstanding contributions and in support of the School’s high-quality development and talent cultivation.

In their remarks, Li Jie, Founder and Chairman of J&T Express, and Lai Ningchang, Chairman of Dongling Holding Group Co., Ltd., expressed their gratitude for the education they received from their alma mater and for the guidance of their respected teacher. Li Jie shared his own growth experience and emphasized that students should carry forward Professor Zhang Qun’s spirit of selfless dedication and boundless care. He noted that the establishment of the fund was intended to support the development of the University and the School and to help cultivate more outstanding talents who are grateful and socially responsible. Lai Ningchang said that countless students had grown and succeeded with Professor Zhang Qun’s support during their student years, and that, as former students, they were willing to give back to their alma mater and teacher for the moral guidance, teaching, and personal cultivation they had received, while contributing to the training of a new generation of economics and management talents and to the development of the University and the School.


At the ceremony, Yan Kuiming signed donation agreements with alumni Li Jie and Lai Ningchang. Yan Xiangbin presented a donation certificate to Li Jie, and Wang Weicai awarded him a commemorative plaque for the “Education Contribution Award.”Quan Liangzhu presented a donation certificate to Lai Ningchang, and He Minqing awarded him a commemorative plaque for the “Education Contribution Award.”

On behalf of Professor Zhang Qun’s students, Professor Dai Shufen, former Party Secretary of the School of Economics and Management, expressed her highest respect for Professor Zhang Qun’s devotion to the School as his home and for the tremendous effort he had devoted to nurturing generation after generation of students. She noted that the establishment of the fund is of great significance to the growth and development of the School’s faculty and students, and called for the continued promotion of Professor Zhang Qun’s spirit of selfless dedication and willingness to support others, so as to make even greater contributions to the development of the University and the School.

Professor Zhang Qun reviewed the development history of the School of Economics and Management. He emphasized that every generation has its own mission, and that the School’s development cannot be achieved without the support and help of its faculty, students, and alumni. He expressed both pride and appreciation for the alumni’s active efforts to give back to their alma mater and to support the development of the University’s educational business and the cultivation of young talent. He expressed the hope that all faculty and students of the School would continue to unite, devote themselves wholeheartedly, carry forward a spirit of practical action, and bravely pursue innovation, so as to jointly write a brilliant new chapter in the School’s development.

During the discussion session, Yan Xiangbin; Xie Hui, Party Secretary of the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences; Gou Lianjie, Executive Vice President of the CPC Party School of Sinopec and Party Secretary of the Sinopec Management Institute; Gao Junshan, former Vice Dean of the School of Economics and Management; along with more than ten other alumni representatives and retired faculty representatives, delivered remarks in turn.

The Zhang Qun Education Fund embodies Professor Zhang Qun’s rigorous and pragmatic academic spirit as well as his tireless educational philosophy. The School of Economics and Management will uphold its enterprising spirit of “cultivating virtue through practice and pursuing innovation through learning,” build consensus, forge ahead with determination, and make greater contributions to national development and industrial progress by providing solid and reliable support.
