On December 21, a Digital Transformation sharing session, hosted by the MBA Centre and co-organized by the MBA Union and 2019 weekend class, was held in classroom 210 of the economics and management building. Zhang Lan, the regional manager of Microsoft Beijing, and Cheng Haoxin, the company’s software architect, were invited to share the intelligent mobile office applications. With real case scenarios, the presenters broadened the students’ horizons by showing the magics of futuristic technology.
Zhang Lan, regional manager of Microsoft Beijing, said that Microsoft was once famous for its products such as office, windows and excel. Now it is building a larger digital and intelligent ecosystem driven by technology, with cloud computing and artificial intelligence as its core. Zhang Lan enthusiastically described the cloud office scenarios of office365 that transcends time and space. For example, employees do not have to carry their own computers on business travels. They can surf the Internet via any public computer or mobile phone at any time, use the browser to get access to and edit all documents on their computers. Besides, the employees can join the audio conference with one click and hold meetings with colleagues anytime and anywhere. Such functional design enables enterprise employees to transcend time and space to achieve seamless collaboration and efficient work. Following the requirements of EU GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and the Cybersecurity Law of the People’s Republic of China and others, Zhang inspired students to reflect over the major information security risks such as blackmail virus that broke out in recent years. She also explained in detail product security compliance of office365 in terms of attack protection, privacy control and multiple identity authentication.

Students actively ask questions and conduct interactive exchanges
Subsequently, Mr. Cheng Haoxin, the software architect of Microsoft, shared the exploration and cases of Microsoft’s digital transformation. He demonstrated the powerful three Microsoft Clouds in a systematic way. According to research, the innovation and productivity of Chinese enterprises will be more than doubled by AI till 2021, but only 7% of Chinese enterprises incorporate AI into their core business strategies. Faced with the intelligent and digital transformation, how could enterprises communicate closely with customers? How could they empower employees? How could they establish efficient collaborative office to optimize operation efficiency? How could they transform services of products? Mr. Cheng identified the key difficulties for enterprises from the above four aspects and gave intelligent solutions in simple terms. The unique intelligent applications, including building blocks, agile cloud intelligent big data platform, AI technology that imitates the interesting reading of high-profile figures and announcers and AI applied in translation scenarios of more than 60 languages are refreshing to the students. All these showed the ecological blueprint of intelligent links in globalization.

In the end, Mr. Cheng showed the great functions of Microsoft Power BI products. For instance, the sales department of a company can input daily sales data in the system and generate visual charts online. By clicking the curve of a month’s sudden increase in performance, the employee can get the key data causing the change online. With another click, the employee can know possible reasons for the increase. Also, the human resource department can get information on employees’ age, specialty and training at any time via the system, and can generate the data in waterfall curves, dendrogram or others online immediately..... The students explored issues on the interactive extraction of data by the sales department, human resources department and others, and learned the new pattern of data management and efficient coordination. The Digital Transformation theme meeting, combining theory with practice, has broadened the students’ horizons. The two-wheel driver of digitalization and intellectualization has inspired the students’ devotion to the country by developing enterprises and reviving the country through science and technology. In the era of digital transformation, big data is no longer synonymous with quantity and speed, but the business value derived from it. To respond to the trend of globalization, enterprises need to constantly seek innovative business models to create new business value, empower employees and optimize business operation processes... Therefore, competitive globalized intelligent productivity platforms will increasingly become the spotlight.
