USTB Center for Post-doctoral Studies of Business Administration Approved: A Major Breakthrough in Discipline Development of Humanities and Social Sciences
On September 27, 2019, a new Postdoctoral Scientific Research Mobile Station for two first-level disciplines of Business Administration and Marxist Theory was approved according to the Notice on Approving the Establishment of 339 Postdoctoral Scientific Research Mobile Stations (Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security [2019] No.105), jointly Issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the National Postdoctoral Scientific Research Mobile Stations Management Coordination Committee.
The competition was fierce. Out of nearly 800 applications, 339 were finally approved. As one of the important carriers for cultivating and employing high-caliber innovative talents, the mobile station is an important platform for developing high-level talent teams and accelerating discipline construction, and an important indicator for measuring the comprehensive strength of colleges and universities. The mobile station also plays an important role in cultivating innovative and pragmatic talents and high-level scientific research and innovation teams, and delivering high-level scientific research achievements as well as promoting the integration of production, teaching and research and transformation of scientific and technological achievements.
At present, there are two centers for post-doctoral studies in SEM, one is for Management Science and Engineering and the other is the newly-approved one for Business Administration. Years of discipline construction has laid a solid foundation for the approval of the stations. The doctoral programme in Business Administration was established in 1995. And it was authorized to offer master’s degrees for Enterprise Management, Accounting, Technical Economy and Management in 1996, 2000 and 2003 respectively. It was authorized to offer doctoral degree for second level discipline of Enterprise Management in 2006 and for first level discipline of Business Administration in 2011. The discipline is committed to providing theoretical, talent and intellectual support in the fields of human resources management, capital operation, innovation and project management, organizational strategy and marketing, supply chain management and other business administration for the transformation and to providing sustainable development of manufacturing enterprises and related productive and service enterprises, and building a domestic first-class and internationally influential Business Administration discipline.
SEM attached great importance to the application. Under the guidance of Department of Human Resources, SEM made the application as an important task and set up an application working group. The application experts closely followed the requirements, gave full play to the characteristic advantages, effectively integrated resources and made targeted material preparations for the application. SEM organized experts to review the application materials, put forward revision opinions, and revised and improved the application materials according to the expert opinions for several rounds, to ensure the effectivity of application materials. Thanks to the above measures of all parties, the application work was completed successfully and finally got approved in the fierce competition.
The approval of center for post-doctoral studies of Business Administration of SEM marks the improvement of our ability in running the school and discipline construction. With a more complete range of disciplines covering more fields in a more reasonable layout, the mobile stations will become “talent introduction platform, talent training platform and academic platform”, therefore promoting plans to cultivate high-caliber talents such as Postdoctoral Teaching Fellows and promoting faculty and discipline construction in SEM. This will provide strong support for the construction of a world first-class university and first-class disciplines.
