Innovation and Entrepreneurship-- Fly Your Dreams
On May 9th the annual forum of Donlinks was launched in the school faculty hall in the theme of “Innovation and Entrepreneurship-- Fly your Dreams”. This forum was sponsored by Donlinks Economics and Management School of the USTB, jointly hosted by Public Relations and Student Affairs Offices. This forum was aimed at offering a platform for students and teachers to exchange opinions and experience about innovation and entrepreneurship and enhancing close relations between the school and the alumni.
Many people such as the 87 alumnus of the USTB, Mr. Lu Zhengyao, chairman of the board of directors and CEO of China Auto Rental Holdings Inc, the 88 alumnus of Economics and Management School, Cha Weijiang, the CEO of Beijing Huan Yu Invest Group co ., ltd, the 98 alumnus of Economics and Management School Mr. Huan Bin, the founder and COO of HEIGHT and ZPLAY, the professor of engineering management and technical economics of Economics and Management School and doctoral supervisor Yang Wu, deputy secretary general of China International Chamber of Commerce for the Private Sector, secretary general of China-Africa Business Council and the 87 alumnus of Management and Engineering Wang Xiaoyong participated in as honor guests. This forum was supported by school leaders and various sectors of our school. Many teachers such as secretary of the party committee of the USTB, professor Luo Weidong, Vice President of the USTB, professor Wang Weicai, professors Xue Qingguo and He Qingmin, dean of Donlinks Economics and Management School, professor Wang Wenbin, secretary of school league committee Liu Xiaodong, deputy director of general office of the foundation Lv Chaowe, deputy director of the party committee and the school Li Shuai as well as many senor alumni and representatives of MBA alumni association and representatives of mentors for freshmen attended this forum. Besides members of leading group and students of 2015 MBA and graduate and undergraduate students participated in this forum. Many media such as the People's Daily, China Network China Education Online, Sohu Net, MBA Education Network covered this forum.
Secretary Dai Shufen hosted the open ceremony of this forum. She introduced "innovation" and "entrepreneurship" mentioned by prime minister Li Keqiang many times in his government work report and said it represented that the country attaches great importance to innovation and entrepreneurship. As the national policy and entrepreneurship climate optimized, more and more young people will realize their dreams in entrepreneurial tide. Having been adhering to the school motto of "virtues in practice, learning in innovation"and committed to cultivating excellent business talents with innovative spirit, our School has emerged a group of outstanding alumni entrepreneurs over the years.
Wang Wenbin extended his appreciation to the school leaders and alumni from all walks of life in his speech. In the theme of innovation and entrepreneurship this forum responds to the needs to development of the time and is a necessary for business elites and the contemporary college students' spiritual growth. Wang introduced that upholding the innovation spirit in recent years, the Donlinks has made great progress in many areas such as discipline construction, academic research, personnel training. He hoped that present teachers and students can learn from the experience and wisdom of successful alumni, and trigger a more in-depth thinking and boost courage to probe into things.
The secretary Luo Weindong confirmed achievements gained by the Donlinks in alumni work in his speech and expressed his thanks to the alumni for their support to the work of schools and colleges. From the development perspective in contemporary China, Luo analyzed reasons why the innovation and entrepreneurship has received attention and support from the government. And she also put forward that for today's college students, it is an opportunity as well as a challenge. Only through perseverant overcoming of setbacks, learning theory knowledge and courageously putting themselves into practice can they realize their entrepreneurial dreams.
After the opening ceremony the alumnus Wang Xiaoyong presided over the followed discussion. Firstly there was a keynote speech delivered by alumnus Lu Zhengyao. In his speech he pointed out that industry, business model, market status, comparative advantage were several important concerns in starting a business. Combined detailed data and points of view with his company's operating situation, he illustrated the relationship between the cost structure of a product and customer experience and the importance of this relationship. He encouraged the audience to take action by words such as “Innovation comes from practice but not words”; “innovation is to say no to yourself ”; “one has to introspect constantly”.
In discussions alumni Lu Zhengyao, Cha WeiJiang, Huang Bin and and professor Yang wu analysized deeply and exchanges opinions about innovation and entrepreneurship respectively from four perspectives. Guests had a thorough discussion about innovation and entrepreneurship from perspectives of the academic, entrepreneurs, investors and market consumers. They also shared and interpreted their own entrepreneurial experience and provides suggestions for entrepreneurial team construction. In interactive part, they answered the questions raised by the audience in detail. The patient analysis and humorous interpretation won applauses and audience was deeply impressed by their personality charm.
In the end dean of the Donlinks issued letters of appointment of guiding experts of “Entrepreneurship Practice Camp of the Donlinks" for guests presented and hoped these outstanding alumni could give guide and help to students in entrepreneurial teams.
This annual forum lasted nearly three hours in a warm and relaxed atmosphere. It gave full expression of the motto of the Donlinks School and set up a bridge of communication and learning between professionals, alumni and students.
