The national finals of the second China management case competition was successfully held in Donlinks school of economics and management, USTB（University of science and technology Beijing）on the day of sept. 21, 2014. Sixteen delegations from 9 divisions nationwide participated in this national finals, and after the fierce competition of Preliminary and final, the delegation of HIT(Harbin Institute of Technology) win the championship, the delegation of (USTB) University of Science and Technology ranked second, and the delegations of ECNU(East China Normal University) and SCU(Sichuan University) obtained the third place. The party secretary of USTB professor Weidong Luo, Education Steering Committee for national Business administration program, Competition Organizing Committee Director, and Professor Jingqin Su from Dalian University of Technology were presented as honored guests.
The four delegations launched an intense debate about the case of “the resovling way of podinn hotel “in final round. Professor Jingqin Su, the chief of competition committees, said the reason for choosing Podinn Case is that its conception of lowcarbon,environmental, green and economical meets current trends well. Additionally, the Strain Capacity of students can also be reflected from such terse and forceful case. The four teams was separated into two groups, and every two teams in the same group confront through four links including statement, questioning each other, questioned by judges and audience. The judges of national finals was composed of Scholars, Professionals and enterprise executives, who were invited by competition committees. After fierce competition, finally HIT(Harbin Institute of Technology) won the championship, USTB(University of science and techonology) ranks second, ECNU(East China Normal University) and SCU(Sichuan University) won the bronze.
The national management case competition aims to promote and boom the education of business administration in China, test the teaching achievement of case method, and also strengthen the communication and cooperation between business schools. The competition was co-sponsored by Education guidance committee of Business administration, share center of management cases, national committees of management cases studying, etc.
The famous media 'China Education Online' interviewed professor Wenbin Wang, who is the dean of Donlinks school of economics and management, USTB. Professor Wang said that " more teams joined comparing with the last case competition, with overall quality also improved; because of some objective factors and less time leaved for competitor’s preparation, they didn’t show them up completely, but the quality of MBA students is still shown. " He also mentioned that the case teaching is necessary for business schools; it’s also one of important features, China’s case teaching started late comparing with that of abroad, but already made a great progress.
