In the morning of October 17th, the Beijing-Hong kong Fellowship and Exchange activity for college students and the Second Competitive Game for Hong Kong students who were in Beijing were held in the faculty auditorium of the USTB. Supported by International Division of the USTB, organized by Youth League Committee and Student Union of the Donlinks, the activity was co-sponsored by Hong Kong Professional Talent Association, Youth League Committee of the USTB and the Donlinks School of Economics and Management.
Pro. Hu Feng, assistant dean of the Donlinks school, deputy secretary of Youth League Committee of the USTB, Wang Li and Wen Ya - deputy secretary of the party committee of the Donlinks, Senior Administrative Officer of Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in Beijing - Li Yunyan and Lu Xiaoxiang, director of Immigration Department, director of Communication and Manpower, Yao Peixiong and Wang Qi, director of General Immigration Department and Dong Yang, the vice-president of Training Institution of China Joint Examination.
The opening ceremony started after a brief warming-up activity, in which assistant dean Hu introduced the Donlinks school lucidly and extended his support and good wishes to the exchange activity. Then Wang Li extended her warm welcome to students from Hong Kong who studied in Beijjing and presented the outcomes of Youth Leadership Training for students from Lizhi Program in 5 consecutive years. These activity enhanced significantly the friendship between students from inland and Hong Kong as well as their understanding of cultures, promoting their united pursuing of the Chinese Dream.
Li Yunyan and Wang Qi generally introduced the functions of Beijing Office of Hong Kong and the services it can provide to students. They hoped that Hong Kong students studying in Beijing can integrated the inland culture as possible as they can. The sponsors extended their gratitude and gave presents to the attended guests. In the end of the opening ceremony, the students took a group photo with the guests.
During the activity, students from Hong Kong had cheerful spirit, they, however, expressed that it was difficult for them to get accustomed to inland culture, the lifestyle and study methods for science and engineering subjects of inland students. Students from the Donlinks school had deep conversation with Hong Kong students about whether Hong Kong students should come back or stay in inland in the future. The openness and enthusiasm of Hong Kong students as well as their deep affection for the inland culture left deep impression on students from the Donlinks school.
After the opening of the ceremony, we interviewed Li Yunyan who commended the significance of this activity. She said that the first days for Hong Kong students in Beijing may be tough for them and they would encounter a lot of problems, such as the adaption to the study style, living style and culture and they also confused about their future career planning. This activity functioned as an assistance and guidance for them. She hoped that Hong Kong and inland can joint hands to make more contribution to the exchanges of college students.
Jia Jia, student in Donlins school was also an organizer of this activity. In September this year, she helped Orientation Day land in the USTB. “It is an excellent topic, we should take this chance to build up circle of friend.”
Hong Kong Professional Talent Association, sponsor of this activity, boasts powerful human resources nationwide. It is a non-profit-making organization themed in “United and Helpful, Live and Work Contently, Integrating in Beijing, Contributing to Our Nation”.
This activity provided a good chance for students from Beijing and Hong Kong to communicate with each other, during which they enhanced their understanding for each other as well as their friendship, accelerating the exchange and understanding between different cultures. This activity laid a solid foundation for further exchange of students from the two places.
